Sport

Bablake believes both competitive and non-competitive team or individual sport and exercise are a crucial aspect of a young person's education.

Our bodies are intelligently wired machines but they need to be exercised! Physically, sport helps you maintain a healthy, toned body, while the stamina built for a sporting context helps energise you for all other activity. 'A healthy mind in a healthy body' is an oft-quoted maxim, but its common sense cannot be denied.

Regular exercise boosts self-confidence, mental concentration, coordination, agility, muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness. In a team context too, it brings so many social advantages: making friends, working in cooperation and experiencing the opportunity for leadership or development of specialised skills.

All of our pupils have a PE and/ or games session built into their timetable and there is an extensive programme of competitive sport. Bablake benefits from excellent sporting facilities. On-site, we have a sports hall that has a swimming pool, gym, dance studio and climbing wall. We also have excellent outdoor tennis and netball facilities next to the main school buildings. Only a mile up the road from the main school site we have an Astroturf and a vast playing field with facilities for rugby, rounders, cricket, athletics and football.

Our pupils enjoy many of the following sporting activities:

  • Athletics
  • Basketball
  • Biathlon
