Giselle's Designs Are Out Of The Norm

Senior School Art

Shell pupil Giselle Pinto completed the term with the exciting news that her entry for a national 'Out of Norm' comic strip competition has been selected as the overall winner.

The competition, run by Renaissance Learning and supported by Orchard Books and The Beano, asked budding cartoonists to complete a comic strip. Alastair Gledhill, Marketing Executive for Renaissance Learning, commenting on Giselle's design, said: 'Although there were many strong entries, Giselle’s stood out for being both well-drawn and engagingly written. It was witty, clever and very much in keeping with the whimsical nature of the Norm books. Congratulations!'

Giselle has won a signed set of 'World of Norm' books for herself and another set for the School Library. There will also be a school visit from author and illustrator Jonathan Meres, creator of the acclaimed books, in the Autumn term for Giselle to look forward to.

This tremendous win caps a wonderful creative year for Giselle, whose designs won our Christmas card competition and the Shell 'Design a Bookmark' competition.
