Spiritual Warrior Recognised As Local Hero At Awards Ceremony

Senior School Sport

Martial arts 'legend' Mr Anthony (Tony) Pillage was deservedly recognised as 'Local Hero' earlier this week at the Coventry Telegraph's  2016 'Pride of Coventry and Warwickshire' awards.

Mr Pillage, a.k.a. 'The Spiritual Warrior', who has led sessions on self-defence and the martial arts for pupils at Bablake for over 10 years, has received many awards for his inspiring work with the city's young people. However, his award this year was extra special since he has proved an inspiration to people of all ages with his immense courage and strength staving off cancer.

On the evening, he said: "I have been trying to break down taboos and barriers of cancer with people. The feedback on this has been incredible and life-changing."

The Coventry Telegraph reported it received so many testimonies confirming the admiration everyone has for the Spiritual Warrior, especially noting his support for other sufferers with his advice and positivity.

We add our immense admiration for Mr Pillage and thank him for being such a positive role model for our pupils.
