Harrismith School Principal Visits Bablake

Senior School Partnerships

Bablake School was honoured to host the Principal from our partner school, Harrismith Secondary (South Africa) this week.

The new Harrismith principal, Mr Zeph Miya, who took up the post of principal in April, arrived at Bablake on Monday and has been treated to a full induction into all things Bablake, as well as day trips to Warwick and Stratford upon Avon. During his time in school, Mr Miya has observed lessons, shadowed Mr Watson and been privy to the 'behind the scenes' operations in school.

Speaking about his week at Bablake, Mr Miya said, "I have been most impressed with the hospitality everyone has shown me, from the Headmaster to the students. I have learnt a lot from the school and, although our schools have very different environments, there are things I have learnt that I will apply at Harrismith. I have had a brilliant visit and I am looking forward to taking back lots of new ideas to my school."

Mrs Helen Skilton is leading on an exciting range of fundraising efforts for Harrismith this year. We are looking forward to hosting a Second and Third Year prom on Friday 2nd December at school, while on Friday 17th February there will be a concert performance of the annual drama production that now retired, former Head of English and Drama, Mr Ian Appleby, produces in Harrismith every year. The ‘twist’ is that the performance will be by Bablake pupils rather than Harrismith pupils - please keep the date free in your diary! Casting for the play will be on Monday 14th November.

A group of pupils and teachers will be visiting Harrismith again next summer, with the aim of further developing some of the projects they started in 2015.
