Clean Sweep For Bablake In Home Fixtures

Senior School Rugby

Bablake's netball and rugby teams took full use of home advantage yesterday in their fixtures on our Autumn Open Morning.

Three victories for the 1st, 2nd and U15 XVs do not credit the spirit and ability of our opponents Princethorpe College as, in truth, the matches were all very evenly pitched. Our U15s came from behind to grab an exciting 29-7 win, while the 2nd XV just edged a 29-21 win. Our 1st XV led from the kick off after Jack Butler ran the length of the field for an exciting solo try, winning 32-12 in an exciting open game refereed with calm authority by Mr Andrew Hall (Head of Biology). Friday's fixtures against the same opponents had not been as successful; then, our U12A and C teams had both lost, but our Bs had won 25-0 and the D team had remained undefeated after an exciting 50 all draw!

Meanwhile our netballers had a very impressive morning against Saint Martin's and Bromsgrove School, winning all 8 of their fixtures from U15A through to U10A. Highlights from the matches included the U15As winning a thrilling contest 23-22, the U13Bs running out 18-0 winners and our U12As winning 17-1 (all against Saint Martin's).

Well done to all our sportsmen and sportswomen for showing such excellent team spirit and a high level of skill in these matches; in turn we thank both our coaches for their enthusiasm and expert guidance, and our many supportive groups of parents on the touchlines or side of court for all their encouragement.
