Building Bridges Across Continents

Senior School Trips & Visits

Fundraising for this summer's visit to partner school Harrismith Secondary in South Africa has already begun.

Fifth year pupil Lauren Cox, who is looking forward to taking part in the visit arranged by Mrs Helen Skilton (Head of History), raised £520 recently with a Quiz Night that she organised for family and friends. The superb response from those supporting the event means that over half the amount of money Lauren had to raise has been achieved already.

While parents, pupils, close friends and staff all supported Lauren's event, most heartwarming of all was the response of her younger sister, Jessie, who not only ran the 'sweet stall' brilliantly at the Quiz Night, but even donated £5 of her own pocket money to the total raised. A lovely gesture!

Lauren was very swift to recognise the excellent support of architects Vagdia and Holmes who sponsored the evening, as well as the great number of small businesses from Coventry's exciting FarGo Creative Village who kindly donated raffle prizes. She also paid tribute to her parents who worked really hard helping her plan the event. We are all very impressed with the endeavour Lauren has shown and cannot wait to hear about the eventual visit to Harrismith in the summer.

Before the visit, which really will help build more important bridges and break down more barriers between the UK and Africa, there will be other fundraisers, including a version of the play former Head of English Mr Ian Appleby will be directing in Harrismith next summer. News of these will be posted when we have it!
