Return Of The Gamelan

Senior School Music

The Javanese gamelan made a welcome return visit to Bablake at the end of the Spring Term.

The Senior School's Music department was thrilled to host the gamelan for another successful two weeks in our Rehearsal Room. Once again the collection of Indonesian percussion instruments, provided by Mr John Pawson, proved very simple to play and enormously therapeutic.

The gamelan was an especial hit with our 2nd form pupils who have been looking at their topic of World Music this term, while the amazing collection was also played by some of our Junior School pupils, our Fourth year GCSE class, 150 visiting Year 5 children from local Primary schools and a good number of members of staff (from a wide variety of departments) and their families.

We look forward to the next visit of the gamelan!
