Bablake Cellists Perform With The National Children's Orchestra

Performing Arts Junior School

Cellists Anna White and Harry Scott-Burt (Bablake Junior School) have both been involved with the National Children's Orchestra this academic year.

Anna achieved her Grade 8 cello with distinction last summer, a fantastic achievement for a young teenager, and she also plays in the Coventry Youth Orchestra, along with several other of our senior pupils.

Harry, who regularly plays live with his musical parents in the Scott-Burt Trio and was a prize-winner in the Rugby Rotary Young Musician of the Year last term, plays a beautiful half-sized French cello, kindly loaned by the Benslow Instrumental Loan Scheme, in recognition of his achievements. All funds raised by the trio are directed to Benslow.

Anna and Harry are all-round musicians, as they also play piano and sing in choirs; unsurprisingly, they both have an ambition to play professionally!

Both pupils, who were last seen performing at St John the Baptist and Coventry Cathedral at the end of last term, are learning from Mr Peter Wilson, a freelance professional cellist, one of our peripatetic teachers.
