Exceptional Talent- (5) Grace Fisher (Bridge)

Senior School Sport

Today we feature Grace Fisher, one of our pupils who took part in our Teenage Cancer Trust charity abseil earlier this summer.

Grace is an exceptional bridge player who has been on the fringes of England selection since last year when she attended a Junior Teach In event organised by the English Bridge Union (EBU) held over three days at Loughborough University. At this event which included players from across the country, despite being one of the youngest there, Grace came second in the U18 Mini Bridge section.

Grace hopes to be considered for the EBU U15 squad that will be announced towards the end of 2015. As the current England U15 squad has just returned from the 2015 European Championships in Norway, the thought of enjoying similar opportunities in the future is very exciting!

As well as attending our school Bridge club, run by Mrs Lisa French (Maths and Head of 4ths) and Mr Dan Menashe (Head of Classics), Grace has weekly coaching from Myra Scott from West Midlands Bridge Club.

We have also learnt this week that Grace has generously donated her hair from a recent cut to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs for boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment. This is a tremendous act of kindness that former pupil Erin Hushon, featured last weekend in our Newsroom, has also recently done.
