Wheatley Triumphs In Senior House Quiz Competition

Senior School House Events

A convincing win against Fairfax, in this week's third and final round of the Senior House Quiz competition, saw Wheatley complete a series of victories over all three Houses.

Such was the victory for Wheatley, who amassed 290 points in this final bout, that Head of Fairfax Mr Inderpal Kalsi was uncharacteristically speechless. Despite Liam Meechan's early flurry of points gathered from his prodigious knowledge of everything Girls Aloud, the Fairfax challenge was swept away by Wheatley's impressive team of Wyman siblings, Matt Hayhurst and Arun Nahar, whose range of knowledge delighted proud House Head Miss Jayne Simmons. Fairfax will surely look to disband the current team and rebuild for next year!

Bayley, Crow and Fairfax were all left on a win apiece as, in a battle between The Wheatleyan editors Kirat Johal and Robbie Stowers, Kirat's Bayley defeated Crow with calm efficiency. Consequently, the three respective House Heads were left to work out final positions from points amassed over the three weeks.

Thanks go to Mr Jim Burns (Assistant Headmaster) for his vigour as quiz master, while it should be stated that future teams would undoubtedly do well to revise their knowledge of The Proclaimers, Scottish football clubs and national anthems, if they are to avoid the infamous Burns glare of contempt at erroneous responses in the 2016-17 Senior House Quiz season! Meanwhile staff members present at the contests are left pondering the eclectic mix of musical treats on the Burns iPod.
