Bablake Junior Pupils Meet Japanese Rugby Stars

Junior School Sport

The Bablake Junior School (BJS) U11 Rugby team was treated to a morning meeting the star Japanese rugby team at a recent Rugby Festival at Warwick School.

The Bablake boys were taking part in a training academy with local premiership club, Worcester Warriors, with Japan, who have been based at Warwick School during the World Cup, training on the pitch next to them. The pupils were extremely excited to meet the players and were treated to photos and signatures; some of the pupils even got their gum shields signed by the Japanese team!

Mr Ed Benfield, Head of Boys' Sport at BJS, said: “Following on from the Japanese success in the Rugby World Cup, it has been great for the pupils to meet their new idols and they are excited to see them in action again in their home country in 2019.”

The boys thoroughly enjoyed meeting their new heroes and are looking forward to using the skills they learnt from the Worcester Warriors academy coaching staff the next time they hit the pitch.

BJS pupils are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sporting activities and every child is given the opportunity to represent the school. The school is very proud of the co-curricular achievements of pupils as well as the excellent progress they make within the classroom.
