Senior Citizens' Party A Tremendous Success

Senior School Charity

Our 2015 Christmas Senior Citizens Party was a tremendous success.

Mrs Maria O'Neill, Charity Co-ordinator, was delighted with the event and had a list of 'thank you's for those involved. She praised the Food and Textiles department for helping set up and serve food as well as wrapping up raffle prizes. A number of staff donated raffle prizes (inc. Mr Burns, Mrs Jones, Mrs Needham, Mr Patchett and Mrs Sawyer). Staff volunteered to pick up and take back our visitors; special thanks went to those who volunteered to do it twice (inc. Mrs Billings and Reverend Slavic).

Reverend Slavic was thanked for organising transport; Mrs Jackson wrapped up 70 presents and made the Hall look amazingly festive! Mr Cleaver was in charge of mince pies and holly branches, while without our Music department and pupils who performed all afternoon, and fantastic host Mrs Alison Tumber, the afternoon would not have been such a success.

She also thanked our caretakers for setting up the Hall and taking everything back and gave a final mention to all the pupils who supported the event, serving our visitors and talking to them. She commented: "They were fantastic, a real credit to Bablake!"

Mr Patchett mentioned the Shells who were led in a conga, circling round the tables and dancing to accompany the musicians; he also praised Sixth Form singer Howard Weyman, who sang two superb show songs, describing his singing as 'astonishing.'
