Coventry Schools Rugby Finals Bonanza

Senior School Sport

What an end of season for Bablake rugby as our U12, U14, U15 and U16 teams all made the 2015-16 season city finals at Coventry RFC.

With wins for the U12s (v KHVIII 35-25), U14s (v Woodlands 15-12) and U16s (v KHVIII 14-13), and a spirited performance by our U15s last night against an exceptional Woodlands XV, our boys will be able to reflect on a fine season. Our U13s lost at the semi-final stage, otherwise we could have claimed a presence in the final of every year group.

The crowds at Coventry RFC witnessed some fantastic rugby and many a parent and coach will still be recovering from the tense finishes for the U12, U14 and U16 sides. The latter ended with the opposition agonisingly short of a winning try after stepping into touch, while the U14s faced a Woodlands side that came from 15-0 down to press us so close.

Well done to the coaches and parents who have supported the sides so well, as always, but finally, a few words for the players... Over the season, it is the squad of players who make a team successful. Many players sidelined with injuries will not always be there when a cup is won but their presence is immense at every stage of the season, whether as a player or supporter. The spirit shown by all sides this season has been immense and they can all be very proud of themselves.
