Design Technology Awards For Bablake Students

Senior School Design Technology

"Upper Sixth Arkwright Scholar James Horton and GCSE pupil Lucie Barnes had a successful night at last week's annual Coventry Schools Design and Technology exhibition sponsored by the Rotary Club", reports Mr Chris West, Head of Design Technology.

"All Coventry schools are invited to exhibit a selection of examination projects and it was very good to see such a diverse range of work on show. James Horton and his chimenea represented Bablake's A level work and he went on to pick up a prize for 'Outstanding Craftsmanship'. Lucie Barnes also collected a similar prize at GCSE level for her art deco inspired MP3 docking station.

Work was also exhibited by Thomas Taylor (a travel chessboard) and Sophie Hollinrake (a retro radio) at GCSE level, with Will Rowland displaying his pyramid lighting at AS level."

Presentations were made in the Ramphal Lecture Theatre at the University of Warwick, and many thanks to the Rotary Club of Coventry for organising and sponsoring the event.
