Another Successful Visit Beyond The Classroom

Senior School Trips & Visits

With pupils looking forward to next week's collapsed timetable, the thoughts of some of our Second Year pupils have returned to reminiscing about their visit to Yorkshire and before that their Expeditions Day trip to RAF Cosford in Shropshire. Miss Holyman (Junior Science Coordinator) reports further on the Cosford visit:

"Over 100 excited pupils from Bablake's Second Year enjoyed an educational visit to RAF Cosford. During the day, pupils had the opportunity to participate in three workshops, two run by the museum's staff and one led by Head of Second Year Mr Jeremy Hobday, where pupils investigated flight.

Despite a slight hiccup - Hangar 1 was being re-wired - the Cosford staff adapted our day superbly, allowing the groups to try on RAF uniforms from all ages. Some had flight suits, others dress uniforms. Our pupils also made rockets which were 'test fired' in a hangar. Everyone visited the 'Fun and Flight' centre with over 20 interactive displays, experiments and tours of the hangars containing many important aircraft including test planes.

This year we had the opportunity to go inside two aircraft and take selfies in the cockpit of a Jet Provost! There was also a small group tour of a Nimrod spy plane.

This was the fourth year we had visited Cosford and it was definitely the best yet! We had a fabulous day, especially trying on all the different types of uniform and timing how long it took to dress correctly.”

We trust all groups of pupils out and about next week have as much fun, and submit full reports to the Newsroom!
