Historic Hockey Win For Boys In Birmingham

Senior School Sport

This week saw a Hockey first for Bablake's boys when the 3rd XI headed to Birmingham.

When Assistant Head Mr Jim Burns searches for Senior Quiz questions in future years, he would do well to store the events in Birmingham earlier this week for his Sport round, as very few pundits would have expected our 3rd XI to be the first senior Bablake side to win at King Edward's in Mr Andrew Phillips' era in charge of hockey.

Our emerging 3rd XI, coached by Design Technology duo Mr Chris West and Mr Sam Williams, produced the performance of this and their previous seasons in a friendly fixture against King Edward's School. Travelling with a weakened side, the side produced perfect hockey to ensure a return to Bablake as 4-0 winners. Still euphoric about this important first win of the season, coaches West and Williams are now hoping the team's form will be translated into victories in their Warwickshire League games.
