Jamie Makes It A Parnell County Cricket Hat-Trick

Senior School Cricket

Yesterday, in our celebration of county cricket selection for our three Mousley brothers, we mentioned the Parnell boys who have also received similar acclaim.

Jamie Parnell, with selection to the U12 Warwickshire CCC squad, makes it a hat-trick for the family following selection in the past for Bablake current 1st XI captain Ross and their elder brother Ryan. We wonder whether the Root brothers will soon begin to feel the heat for potential national side competition from the Parnell (and Mousley) families.

Jamie celebrated his selection to the county set up by being involved in a thrilling U12 limited overs match last weekend which ended in a draw with the scores level. Jamie and fellow opening bat Ben Rigden played short cameos, while Matthew Hart top-scored, but King Edward VI School restricted Bablake to 95-9.

Jamie's opening bowling spell gleaned a couple of wickets for us, but with overs remaining and KES well set at 87-5, the inevitable defeat seemed only a matter of a couple of lusty blows away.

At this point county player Jamie had other ideas and bowled a triple-wicket maiden (W..WW.) to claim his first Senior School 5 wicket haul. This left Alex Starling to bowl the final over with just 2 runs needed by KES. After an early single tied the totals, Alex held his nerve to bowl the KES no 10 and have their final batsman stumped off the final ball!

We trust Jamie's season for Warwickshire is as successful and exciting!
