Andrew Raises £1200 For Charity

The summer holiday is obviously a fantastic time to recharge the batteries, renew energy levels and look forward to a new year full of fresh challenges. For many teenagers across the country, there is the temptation to take advantage of the time off, enjoy a few extended lie-ins and in the words of our former Deputy Head, Mr Ron Jones, be late to bed and surly to rise, much to their parents' frustration!

For 15 year old Andrew Clisham though, the holiday was a chance to volunteer for a week walking the length of Hadrian's Wall to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland. This is a physically exhausting challenge and his constant humour and indomitable spirit really impressed his parents and fellow walkers all the way along the 84 mile trek from Wallsend (near Newcastle) to Bowness-on-Solway (near Carlisle).

In total, Andrew raised £1200, a fabulous amount of money for an excellent charity. Hopefully congratulations on achieving this will raise his spirits since within a few days of returning to school, he has sustained a double fracture in his arm playing rugby in the District trials. We wish him a speedy recovery.
