Years Of Preparation (Part 1)- The Analogy

Archive Archive

Mrs Alison Tumber, Head of 6th Form, welcomed our U6th and L6th pupils with an excellent assembly that emphasised the value of making the most of all the opportunities available in the A Level years at Bablake.

She also stressed the value and enjoyment gained from working in unison as a team throughout the time at the top of the school.

Her most powerful analogy was a comparison between the relatively short period of time completing an Olympic final and the final moments of an A Level course that would take place in the examination room.

Whether you are going to be an academic success or sportsperson at the top of his or her sport, both quests demand lengthy periods of dedicated training, plenty of practice, a healthy lifestyle and belief in one's ability.

US Open and Grand Slam winner Andy Murray is just one of many people who, especially in the last couple of months, have inspired us all with his perseverance and dedication in the virulent desire to be fulfilled and a leader in his field.

We thank former pupil Ben Duffy for allowing us to use his photograph of Andy Murray which was taken earlier this year.
