Crow House Sets The Early Pace In The House Public Speaking Contest

House Events

This year's House Cultural competition is the Public Speaking competition and yesterday Crow House won the first of three rounds of debating when our 3rd and 4th year pupils took to the platform.

Each House has been allocated a political party and the three rounds cover different aspects of the relevant manifestos. Bayley is representing the Green Party, Crow the Liberal Democrats, Fairfax the Conservatives and finally Wheatley is taking on the persona of the Labour party.

After each House had presented, judges Mrs Sarah Harris (Director of Marketing and Admissions) and Mr Terry Patchett (i/c the Astro and former English teacher) returned their scores to Mr Gary Park (Speaker of the House). Enya Bowe, Apeshka Chohan and Mehreen Kazmi were judged to have won the first round for Crow with their presentations on Health and Welfare.

Head of Crow Mr Andrew Phillips said: ‘The pupils prepared their speeches and did all the research themselves. Mr Williams and I were very proud of them!’

Next week, on Tuesday and Thursday, it is the turn of the Shells/ 2nds and 6th Form respectively to present their parties' views. Once again a healthy audience would be most welcome for both sessions.
