Impressive Extension Study On The Right Tracks

Archive Archive

As well as participation in Extension lessons and summer research for CREST or EPQ projects, many of our L6th pupils have been looking for ways to stand out academically.

One pupil, this time next week, will be awaiting official news of how his additional study has gone. James Tumber, as well as being selected for the Engineering Education Scheme run by our Design Technology department, has combined his traditional AS programme with some excellent self-study.

In conjunction with Mr Trevor Hyde and the Physics department, James has carried his love of Electronics forward from GCSE to AS, which he has studied on top of his L6th studies.

James' key project, developing a working model which enables a train to stop automatically when faced with an obstruction on a track, was on display at our Summer Open Session.
