Triple Mountain Heroes

Senior School Charity

The intrepid group of Bablake teachers and friends that set out to climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, all in one go this weekend, has returned exhausted but having fulfilled its aim!

Messrs Benfield, Bogyor, Burdett, Phillips and Tyas, while walking up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, covered over 3407m (9,800ft) of ascent and at least 42km (26 miles) of walking in total - all in just over 24 hours. The group also endured hundreds of miles travel between the mountains in a minibus, including a 9 hour journey straight after school on Friday!

Mr Andrew Phillips (Master i/c Boys' Cricket and Hockey) said: "It was definitely the toughest endurance event I have ever taken part in! Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout, especially the school for providing a minibus!"

What next for the adventurers, we wonder, especially after hearing reports that the ageless Mr Tyas ran down the final peak and looked completely unruffled upon completion of this?!

Bablake's Friday charity collection this week is also in aid of Heart Link Children’s Charity.
