1st VII Regains The Coventry Schools Netball Trophy

Senior School Sport

Danika Patel (captain) and Megan McElligott (vice captain) led their team to victory in yesterday's U18 Coventry Schools netball tournament.

Bablake's 1st VII won all its games, beating Bablake B, Bluecoat, Coundon Court, and King Henry VIII A and B on its way to winning the tournament. This means we proceed to the Warwickshire round of the Nationals, alongside runners up Bluecoat, who had lost narrowly 9-6 to us but won their other four matches.

Bablake's attack led by sharp-shooting Aleena Mann and Hannah Sweeney, who both worked excellently with Sophie Hollinrake, was imperious all afternoon, while the defence led by Mahima Dhami was very tight and in one of the later games conceded no goals at all - an impressive feat. Fifth year pupil Emmanuella Kamara-Musa was also commanding in midfield alongside leaders Danika and Megan.

Mrs Jade Russell (Head of Girls' PE) said: "I was delighted with the girls' performance and the excellent team spirit we saw on tour this summer in South Africa was most evident in our play on court. The only disappointment was what looked like a bad ankle injury for Baht-Ammi Francis - we all wish her a speedy recovery."
